I purchased this Dutch Oven when I read a review stating this comes from a little company in the USA. When I received the box it stated made in China. I called the company and they said that all their Enameled Dutch Ovens come from China. This is a big concern since there has been issues with China's lead addition to their paints. We've addressed this issue to some extent with Children toys manufactured in China but I am hesitant to believe that all their addition of lead in other products have been eliminated.
I order the cookware from amazon at a much lower price than other sites. I
have used the pot numerous times and love it. It is a great pot for cooking soups, stews and braising.
I have had the smaller 3qt "little brother" to this 6qt one for several months now and love it. It's much easier to clean than I imagined, browns meat better than anything and is lots prettier than it appears to be in the picture. It also has a wider bottom, which I find much more useful than the expensive ones. If you're cooking more than three or four servings, I'd suggest the 6qt but why not get both, you'd still spend less money than for one Le Creuset.
I have used this Lodge enameled oven many times and for many recipes since getting it. I could not be happier. AS a long time user of cast iron for cooking, this is my first enameled version, but not my last. Fantastic slow cooking on stove top and does a great job covered and in the oven. Most likely I will replace the knob on the cover as it is not heat resistant over 350F. Will be easy to do.I have not yet used to to deep fry, but I expect it will be great for that also.
This will be on my shopping list for a couple of folks next X-Mas!
Can't say enough how I love cooking in my new Lodge Dutch Oven. It cooks so evenly and is large enough for to make enough for leftovers and freezing. It also is a cinch to clean up--no sticking.
I have used mine for about three month now and have cooked various dishes. All came out great. Love the even heating on low. Food retains heat for quit a while after taking off the burner or out of the oven.
I also ordered a blue one for my son and one for my sister-in-law.
This product compares to similar items that are over $100. The color is not as vibrant as in the picture, which I like even better. For the money, this is the best deal I had this past Christmas season.
This was just what I needed and I didn't have to spend over $200 to get it. The quality seems to be up there with the expensive pans. My only complaint is that it is manufactured in China but know that is how they keep the prices down.
Excellent Dutch Oven, the price is very good compared to the imports. Functionally the same as the much more expensive pots.
I absolutely love this dutch oven. since I got it I have used it several times a week & the quality is amazing. I just love it!!!!
