We have 6 or 7 of these bowls and I think they are the best size for left-overs. They have carried soups, chili, salads, etc. to work. They are more expensive and are heavier than plastic containers, but they are very durable (have lasted us many years and still going strong) and I believe they are healthier to store food in than all-plastic containers.
I recommend washing the lids by hand. I have been doing this for many years and these lids still seal very well (unlike the Pyrex set that I bought in 1993 that I consistently ran through the dishwasher and the lids don't fit as snugly).
The pyrex bowl w/cover was delivered as expected, in perfect condition.
Had to replace one like it that was broken
Pyrex has always been a quality product, and it still is. We love this serveware.
We bought this little guy to go along with another Pyrex set that was being offered as a Special Value and we needed just about $5 more in order to get the Free Shipping (I HATE paying for shipping) so this added piece was just what we needed. Pyrex has an outstanding reputation for being well made and durable. You can't go wrong. Very handy for leftovers and very pleased with our purchase.
You will like the looks and it goes from mixing to cooking, to serving, to refrigeration. I love things that serve more than one goal!
I love the ample size of this soup/salad/cereal/storage/microwave bowl.It's clear glass so it goes with everything. My family and I use these every day.Saves me $$ on storage bags too plus you can store, heat it up and eat out of the same bowl.
I own 9 of these. I mostly use the 3-cup bowl for soup or cereal (Oats & Banana's, etc) or left-overs for lunch the next day. I am a huge fan of the 2-cup edition of these. They are also good for holding left-overs of pasta with meat sauce as that is pushing it a little in the 2-cup edition. Being 1-cup larger than the 2-cup version, the portion control is not as good. I think the ribbed glass on the sides makes for easier handling as they are not as apt to slip out of your fingers. That being said they are hard to break and I've never had one chip.
I have 2 Pyrex bowls. Both work very good~~ I like Pyrex brand. It is high quality~~
It's been literally decades in coming for me, but I've finally given up on Rubbermaid and Tupperware containers. These pit and discolor in the dishwasher, no matter what the claims. In addition, some say it's not safe to microwave in them, and for sure you can't put them in the oven. I've always cooked casseroles in Pyrex, so I have no excuse for not using Pyrex for leftovers, other than I always thought it was a negative that they were breakable. But after replacing the Rubbermaid and Tupperware every few years, I have nothing to show for that either. The three-cup size is perfect for making dinner salads ahead of time, not to mention leftovers from two people. Shoot, in a pinch you could also use these for cereal bowls. I have other pieces, and I've never had to worry about the lids warping when going through the dishwasher either, unlike, again, Rubbermaid and Tupperware.
This works great to store in the fridge any leftover side dishes (rice, beans, a dab of vegetable. At another meal, I just set the lid ajar and zap it in the microwave. It's ready to go straight to the table. Very handy.
